Union Depot to Host Public Premiere of Disney’s “Teen Beach Movie”

Event to Feature Sandy Beach, Games, Concessions and More

ST. PAUL, MINN. (July 2013) – On Friday, July 19 Union Depot will be transformed into a beach scene as it teams up with Radio Disney and the Disney Channel to host the Teen Beach Movie Party and a showing of the new movie on a giant-size screen.  The event coincides with the world premiere of the movie on the Disney Channel.  The event is free and open to the public.  Disney Channel favorites Ross Lynch, Maia Mitchell, Grace Phipps, Garrett Clayton and others star in this lighthearted movie about a group of friends and their favorite musical beach film, “Wet Side Story.”  The movie has a run time of 125 minutes and is most appropriate for children ages 8-14.

The Radio Disney Road Crew will be there with games, dancing and prizes beginning at 5 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m.  tons of sand will be piled into the Union Depot Waiting Room to create an authentic beach scene.  Games will include:

  • Prize Wheel with beach-themed prizes.
  • Giant-sized games including the new bean bag toss.
  • Photo Op where kids can pose as beach bodybuilder.
  • Concessions with cool summer treats.

Kids are encouraged to come dressed in their beach attire and to bring a beach towel, blanket or beach chair.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.  Union Depot is located at 214 Fourth Street East in downtown St. Paul.  Convenient parking is available in the Union Depot parking garage on the south side of the structure with entrances on Sibley Street, Wacouta Street and Fourth Street.

 

Union Depot Partners With lululemon athletica to Host Free Saturday Morning Yoga Classes

July Series Guided by Woodbury’s CorePower Yoga and Spa

ST. PAUL, MINN. (July 3, 2013) – On Saturday, July 6, Union Depot will host the first in a series of month-long free Saturday morning yoga classes guided by instructors from CorePower Yoga and Spa in Woodbury.  The classes, hosted in partnership by lululemon athletica on Grand Avenue and Union Depot, start at 9 a.m. and run one hour and will be held in the Waiting Room area in the historic landmark.

Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, towel, water and invite a friend. This series is part of the Saturday Morning Classes community events program presented by lululemon athletica. Each class held at Union Depot will be based on a particular level of expertise, from beginner to advanced.

Class descriptions and instructors include:

July 6:    Hot Power Fusion with Ken Schweiger:  For all levels from beginner to advanced, this class incorporates movements that work the entire body for enhanced strength, balance and flexibility.

July 13:  CorePower Yoga 1 with Cailee Stangl:  This beginner-level class takes participants through the Vinyasa series that links breath to movement, resulting in total body strengthening and increased flexibility.

July 20:  CorePower Yoga 2 with Angela Doerfler:  A more advanced, rigorous session, this class combines demanding strength postures that encourage moving, breathing and sweating.

July 27:  CorePower Yoga 1.5 with Missi Rossi:  Participants who have mastered beginning yoga level will enjoy this introduction to yoga postures used in advanced classes that are designed to strengthen the core and focus on alignment and breath.
