For the fourth year in a row, Union Depot in downtown St. Paul will serve as the “Official Transit Hub” of the 2017 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, October 1. During the marathon, Union Depot will offer convenient parking for visitors and easy access to the METRO Green Line for people wishing to be at the starting line in downtown Minneapolis and finish line at the Minnesota Capitol grounds. Metro Transit is offering free rides to all runners and volunteers.
Health and fitness enthusiasts can also catch the free shuttles from Union Depot to the Twin Cities in Motion Health & Fitness Expo happening September 29-30 at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. Shuttles will depart every 20-30 minutes from the curb cutout in front of the Union Depot Kellogg Entry. In the spirit of the marathon, free Saturday yoga class on September 23 at Union Depot will be themed “Yoga for Runners” with movements specifically tailored to endurance runners.
The newest Union Depot online “Choose Your Own Experience” listing offers ideas for watching the marathon from a variety of top viewing points around town, with transportation options starting at Union Depot and taking the METRO Green Line to U.S. Bank Stadium to catch the kickoff of the marathon. The listing includes recommendations of public transit to take visitors between key points along the event route, including a ride on the Green Line to the Capitol/Rice Street Station where the marathon ends, and from there back to Union Depot.
