Chill Out in Chi-Town

Grab a group of friends and head to Union Depot, where you can ride together on the Megabus or the Amtrak train to Chicago.

  1. FRIDAY: Take the day off and cruise into Chicago on the morning Amtrak. Upon your arrival in the afternoon, grab a bite to eat in the form of the city’s legendary deep-dish pizza. Giordano’s or Gino’s East are just two well-known pizza shops. And if a day off isn’t in the cards for you, no worries! You and your friends can catch the evening Megabus to Chi-town.
  1. SATURDAY: Spend the day exploring the Windy City! Millennium Park (home of “The Bean” sculpture), Willis Tower observation deck, Navy Pier and the Shedd Aquarium are just a few places to explore that will keep you busy all day. And if you want to truly play tourist for a day, check out the Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Bus. For dinner, head to Billy Goat Tavern. It’s “Cheezborger, Cheezborger, Cheezborger” was made famous on Saturday Night Live. Or dress up for a fancy night out at Everest, Chicago’s renowned French cuisine restaurant. Its location on the 40th floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange offers breathtaking views of Chicago. End your evening by visiting Chicago’s Downtown Theater District and catch a Broadway musical. Or, if you’re a baseball fan, cheer on the Cubs at the historic Wrigley Field or the White Sox at US Cellular Field.
  1. SUNDAY: You’ll have a bit of time before catching the Amtrak train or Megabus back to Union Depot in the afternoon. This provides the perfect opportunity to eat breakfast at the Corner Bakery Café and do some shopping on Michigan Avenue. Make sure to grab a snack in the form of Garrett Popcorn’s Garrett Mix® (Chicago Mix: cheddar and caramel popcorn) or chocolate from the Hershey’s Chocolate World store, located on the “Magnificent Mile.” Either would be the perfect treat to enjoy during your ride home on the train or bus.
